The Pear Tree

Followed you

down

and out,

into a

terrible

place.

I couldn’t

wait

to make it

through,

but you

put me

in chains.

There was

a place

there

for me,

somewhere

between

the swamp

and the

pear tree.

I remember

the terror

with clarity.

Even with

my eyes

behind

my hands,

I saw

my worst

fears

come

for me.

Tied

outside

in the night.

Agony.

Blamed myself

for my

stupidity

and I

still do

today.

That’s

the thing

about

chasing dreams,

sometimes

they’re wild,

and nothing

is as

it seems.

Trust me,

as I

have caught

a few;

the

real fear

sets in

when

the dream

starts

chasing

you.
