White canvas.
Clean slate.
No hope,
but what we create.
No images,
but what we paint.
Colors blend,
some bright,
some opaque.
Stroke and cut to make
the mind’s eye
open wide
and find life
in the pattern.
Or mix chaos,
until all the space
is brown and grey,
slashed with violent reds
where hope is bled away.
Then,
get out the base white
and start again.
Blank canvases
always remain
potential windows
and doorways.
