Push through
your jaded expectations.
They’re gonna cut you,
but you’ve been cut before.
They’re gonna snag on your flesh
to try to hold you back,
but you’re gonna push through.
Eventually,
you’ll realize
that they can’t touch you.
That the skin,
and muscle,
and tendon
that is being wounded,
isn’t you.
It’s just a cocoon,
covering what you really are.
Something that cannot be harmed
by the barbs
of jaded expectations,
long knives of betrayal,
or jagged disappointments.
Inside
you are made
of something stronger.
So, push through.
