never much occurred to you.
So wrapped up in your
self-flagellating shame.
You
are so accustomed to
doing what you do;
taking all the blame
and running away.
Never once thought
that you could change.
Truth be told,
You have been afraid
ever since you were
a little child.
The world, for you
was a fist
that broke every single tooth
in your smile.
Time did not step in
to ease the pain
that drugs and alcohol
could not assuage.
The sadness in your heart,
the anger in your brain,
have left you to find your fault
in everything.
