Scarlet Sun

See me,

briefly entangled in your mystery.

Captured for a moment

and then torn free.

Changed in my ways

from the experience.

Travelled far,

wandering ever since.

Wondering what has become of you,

while winding my own way through.

Recovered, but another comes.

Reopen wounds

where you had sutured them.

Broken my bones

so, I couldn’t run.

Healed under the wheel

of a scarlet sun.

Hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Cresting yet another day’s horizon.

Here I thought I recognized

something familiar in the distance.

Feeling the gaze of your eyes

on my skin.

How perfectly

the world returned me

to our mystery.

See me.

I’m coming home.
