A Reason to Stay

Your fear without.

Wandering your inner sanctum.

A world of doubt,

confronting the very question.

Who are you?

Who am I?

Does it even really matter?

Bodies decompose in time

and we go on

to the hereafter.

Never did occur to you

to find a line,

or draw a purpose.

Awake only in name,

as waves break

along the surface.

In an endless bend,

how are we numb?

Not knowing we’ll be done.

Eyes open,

but perception severed.

Lying to ourselves

that this goes on forever.

We all have our day.

A reason to stay.
