Flat Earth

Things are not the same,

and I’m afraid

they never will be.

How did we go

so astray?

The world is tilting,

and if it’s flat

we’re all gonna fall off,

and we will have to learn

to live

How will the world look

when everything

is upside down?

It won’t matter,

it’s just an angle of perspective.

This isn’t really us,

it’s just the way the world is.

We come from the dust,

we’re born in the whirlwind

and we will end it thus,

in fire and dispersion.

Before we go underground,

I want to see

upside down.

I want to know what it’s like

before we make our final sound.

What a time to be alive.

We used to think

we would realize

in time,

but we are all in

for the ride.

When the worm turns

we will know,

and if we go

down into that underworld,

I won’t say

“I told you so.”

This isn’t a warning,

it’s a ticket

for the ride.

Keep it to yourself;

so many want

to get inside.

We’re all gonna wonder

when the moon sets

and the sunrise

on the other side.

You’ll get to see

it all go down

with your own eyes.
