Watched you crawl
into a fold
in the Darkness,
whose raiment
hung like robes
from the sky.
You were just a child,
finding a secret
place to hide;
a doorway through.
You were all the world
of doors and windows,
long before the walls
were built around you.
From your hiding place
beneath Darkness’ garments,
I could hear you laugh,
because you knew
I couldn’t follow.
I have grown old
and I
can no longer see
the seams in everything.
Every day it becomes
harder and harder
to escape,
but I remember
how you showed me
the way.
