Long Haul

Help me, Lord.

I know I am no fall-away-man.

I’m in this

for the long haul.

I can’t say I’ve strayed

from any kind of way,

because I never had one,

until just now.

Making adjustments on-the-fly.

Watching my life

go passing by,

and I,

am a storyteller

on my father’s side

and a wonder

on my mother’s.

They’re landing machines on Mars.

Maybe my life

shouldn’t be this hard.

If I could just get it right,

just one more time,

everything would be alright,

but I still find some comfort

in the night.

The light escapes me, sometimes.

I guess You made me to find

my path wherever I go.

Wandered everywhere

between the sky

and the Earth,

and I can see, now,

you’ve always been there.

It seemed strange to me at first,

but I’m curious as to where this road goes.

I saw You from the start,

and You’ll see me at the close.

I know  I have to keep going,

there’s still so much more to do.

Help me, Lord

to keep on finding You.
