The Kindest Act

Bring it a little bit closer.

I want to see it.

I want to smash it,

and my eyes are not

as good as they used to be.

I want to destroy it,

choke it,

kill it.

Spent my whole life trying to change it,

and I’m sick of disappointments.

Sick to death of this

conciliation

watering down my purity.

I was closer to God

than any of you,

and now I’ll die in obscurity.

I suffered for you,

gave my life for the lie.

Now, the last hands

you’re going to feel

are mine.

I’m gonna have the last laugh,

if they think that I’m going to leave

this world to the weak and mild.

The strongest of you

couldn’t stand the truth

of what this world really is in the wild.

Come here, my child.

Let me show you

what all these teeth are for.

They’re gonna wish

they had listened to me,

when they tally up the score.

Let me hold it

in these old hands of mine,

before it’s gone

and we follow in time.

It’s been so easy,

erasing the past,

and taking the future with me

will be the kindest act.

You all should have listened.
