Take it as it comes.
It’s never going to get easier.
Strength comes and goes,
it’s the will that drives.
This time of year
sure as Hell
doesn’t make it better,
but it can be,
in the lights we strung
together.
Separated from our families,
friends, and neighbors,
we rely on to get by,
when we need people the most,
still living under the same sky.
I ask myself daily,
if I understand the reasons why?
We can’t exist
afraid to live,
afraid to die.
Day by day
we make it,
but we’re just running out the clock.
Waiting,
hesitating,
too long to make the shot.
I reach out,
and I know you’re there.
Reaching out to me,
divided by the very space
that made us scared.
