Just a moment of discomfort
to pay for all our sins.
It only lasts an instant;
that’s all it takes to draw you in.
Time stretches on forever
when the wall are stretched too thin
between this world
and the next one,
and we start all this again.
We said we wouldn’t be afraid,
and we were mostly right.
Went into this with an acute
lust and appetite.
Wanted something out of this world
we couldn’t find in the light,
so down to the Night Time Town
we’d go to see the sights.
We became neighbors over water,
now over water is why we fight.
If we could drink the sky,
we’d probably die in flight.
We chase the things
that exist on the edge of our sight.
Shadows from the Night Time Town
haunt us our whole lives.
We should have left ourselves something sacred,
now we’ve got no refuge from the storm.
We’ve got nothing left to kill for,
nothing to burn to keep warm.
When our minds are as empty as our souls,
a demon is born,
of a life lived finding comfort
in its prettiest form.
The chains that enslave our minds
we once wore with pride.
We follow the song and the fiddle,
on down the line.
At the end we find what awaits,
is what we’ve been afraid
to face this whole time.
So, on the streets of the Night Time Town,
is where we choose to hide.

This is beautiful my friend. Lots of metaphors and such gorgeous descriptions.
I love these lines
“If we could drink the sky,
we’d probably die in flight.
We chase the things
that exist on the edge of our sight.”
Really nicely crafted my friend. Have a blessed day. Love to you and yours Joni 💕❤️
