Lift your leg

and place

your foot

down in front

of the other,

and do it

again.

Now,

with some momentum,

you’re moving

forward;

away from where you are.

The nightmares,

the violence,

the monsters

that consume you.

The haunting

betrayal,

the systematic

torture.

Skin,

tears

under the whips

and chains,

and flails.

Words and knives,

the way

you came to know

the world and all those in it.

It blinds,

conceals,

the path away from home,

but you don’t know

that where you find your heart

will be home, too.

So keep on walking.

Just keep on walking.

Keep on walking.

You’ll find others

who called Hell “Home”, too.
